Youjeen Cho was born in Korea on July 5th, 1977, but calls Japan her home. Standing about 5’ 2”, Youjeen isn’t very tall, and by looking at her, you would hardly expect such a powerful voice could emanate from a woman of that size. Her influences include bands such as LIMP BIZKIT, Marilyn Manson, Garbage, Radio Head, KORN and many more, and she loves to collect dolls.
Youjeen first became famous with the popular Korean rock band Cherry Filter during 1997, which she was the vocalist for. Around early 2001 she was discovered and managed by J of the disbanded Luna Sea, and began her solo career singing Japanese rock.
During 2001 and 2002, Youjeen released two albums and five singles, but has long since went back to join Cherry Filter to further help the fledgling Korean rock scene. Though she hasn’t released anything in Japan since 2002, don’t pass up discovering Youjeen’s Japanese releases - which are all amazing in their own right.
