Aya was born in a small town at the northernmost part of Japan, however when she was born is still a mystery. She of course grew up listening to music, and it was one day when she heard a track from Nirvana that really gave her a sense of direction in her life.
Throughout the years Aya learned to compose, record and arrange her own music and after submitting a demo tape to various record companies, an American producer from StudioX heard her tape, liked what he heard, and signed Aya on to do her first solo album.
Aya’s first album collaboration was a big one, as she was privileged to work with many industry veterans including a member from Nirvana whom she admired. In the spring of 2002 after a year and a half, Aya’s debut album Senjou no Hana was released to the Japanese public.
In 2002 Aya spent her time performing at live gigs in Japan, and during that time worked on her second album Kinjirareta uta which was released in March of 2003. She continues to perform at live gigs, and is expected to be releasing a new album this year.
